Curdesox

Curdesox FGD-system is a patented sulfur removal process characterized by very high sulfur removal efficiency of 90 - 95%, and low investment and operation costs. Along with the sulfur removal, heat recovery of up to 5% of the boiler capacity may also be achieved. What is more, the Curdesox system is completely dry which means that the rest product is easy to handle, and no equipment for water treatment is needed.

The Curdesox-system is based on the chemical reaction between sulfur dioxide and limestone operating at the flue gas dew point. Flue gas passes through crushed limestone in a reactor where the sulfur is transferred from the air to the surface of the limestone. After a certain time the limestone is not fully saturated with sulfur, and it is then cooled to remove the sulfur compounds from the surface of the limestone. The heat energy recovered during the sulfur removal process may be used to preheat the combustion air.

Once saturated with sulfur compounds, the limestone is passed through a mill where the sulfur is removed. The fine powder produced is separated by a screen, and the remaining stones are sent back in the reactor for a new cycle.

All flows in the process - flue gas, air, and limestone-are continuous, which provides even and high removal efficiency. Other patented processes available to Clean Air Technology AB provide recycling systems for the sulfurous rest product.
